Artificial Intelligence and Human Resources: from ChatGPT on, a workshop to take action!
Around the table to talk about Artificial Intelligence and Human Resources were companies from many different sectors: from financial services to telecommunications, from industrial mechanics to fashion to utilities. What we had in common was the desire to better understand this topic that is so “hot” and so discussed, but also in many ways little known.
Agile Coaching
In the workshop we were guided by Francesca Rossin, through the methodology ofAgile Coaching.
Research on generative AI
In the content, we were accompanied by Mario Molinari, who explored and researched the topic of Artificial Intelligence for us, telling it in the language “for the uninitiated.”
What did we learn?
Among other things, we learned that:
- intelligences are diverse and very specific, and complex functionality results from the sum of many individual intelligences;
- artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly available to and for the use of “non-technical people.” We have examples such as ChatGPT that make us realize the power even in terms of adoption (100 million active users reached in 2 months … see infographic below);
- precisely because of this rapid diffusion and adoption, we have to guard against still open problems (such as so-called hallucinations, when AI confidently generates completely inaccurate information, or filters that are not yet reliable, bias, data security and intellectual property issues, etc.)
- AI could completely change the perspective of the so-called “skill shortage” and the logics by which upskilling and reskilling programs are designed.
ChatGPT took only two months to reach 100 million users compared to, for example, the nine months required for TikTok We felt that it is probably no longer postponable for us as HR to think maturely about integrating AI into businesses
How can we integrate AI into our companies?
First, widespread literacy is needed: people in the enterprise need to know both the potential and the limitations from AI so that they can use it properly. In addition, AI can be an efficient way to work, but we need to be aware of the areas in which we use it-some lend themselves better than others. AI needs to be supervised, so we will need to develop the skill of supervision and training. This is necessary to make it more and more adherent to our business needs, language and values. AI is constantly evolving in its solutions. It can be useful to have an internal observatory within the company that:
- Directs people to different solutions assessed as reliable;
- Identify the different functions that may need it (information retrieval, word processing, graphics, text recognition, data analysis and reporting, programming, etc.).
Like all innovation chapters, we do not pretend to provide exhaustive answers. We are interested in opening important chapters for the evolution of business organizations and strategic competencies. In this workshop we enjoyed, confronted, worried, reassured. In the end, we pooled a few design ideas that can be brought to our companies and realities.
